Dear Queen Lake Neighbor:

Last summer’s water quality, of the lake, took us all by surprise. But this years testing is not showing any improvement. The bacteria levels determined by the weekly laboratory testing, are unacceptable by state standards, and are most dangerous to our children. I know, separating kids from playing in the water, is not a fun job, for a mother or grandmother. We have moved forward with actions to determine the source and to prevent a contamination this summer.

The Board of Health has conducted an investigation into the source of this pollution and need your help in solving this problem. We must locate the source or sources of this bacterial contamination. These bacteria can only be found in human or animal waste. We encourage you, to patrol your neighborhoods and report all areas of suspicion, in a collective effort to find the pollution, affecting the full enjoyment of your lake property

Your participation, in our investigation, is critical if this problem is to be solved this year. Without your help, an Environmental Engineering Company will be contracted to research and conduct massive testing to locate the contamination. This would be very costly, and funded by taxes, and wouldn’t happen until late summer of ’08 at the earliest.

The following informational survey is intended, to complete the missing information, in the Board of Health files, about your property. If you haven’t fill in a survey form, you will be contacted for a site inspection of your property, to obtain the information required to complete our data base.

This information on page one, will be public record, and will be kept on file for your future use. However any information submitted on sheet 2 will be confidential, and use only for the process of solving the pollution at Queen Lake.

We encourage you to be a part of this solution, and to know that low interest loans are available thru the town for the repair or replacement of a septic system or well. Thank-you for your attention, and concern. For any questions please call Valorie Daigle, at 978-249-1735 on Wend. Morning or mail to the Health Board Office.

Sincerely;

Valorie Daigle

Health Director

If you returned a completed lake survey to the Board of Health already, thank you.

If not, please do so now.
